Let

g -----> total inches

m ----> the number of months

In this problem we have a proportional relationship between variables g and m of the form

g=km

where

k is the constant of proportionality

we have that

k=0.5 ----> is given

substitute

g=0.5m

Complete the table

For

m=2 months

substitute in the equation

g=0.5(2)

g=1 in

For

g=4

substitute in the equation

4=0.5m

m=8 months

For

m=19

g=0.5(19)

g=9.5 in

For

g=15.5

15.5=0.5m

m=31 months

Complete the table

m=2 g=1 in

m=8 g=4

m=19 g=9.5

m=31 g=15.5
