The range of a projectile is given by:

R=(v^2_0\sin 2\theta)/(g)

where v0 is the initial velocity, theta is the angle and g is the acceleration of gravity. Plugging the values given we have that:

\begin{gathered} R=((50)^2\sin (2\cdot40))/(9.8) \\ R=251.23 \end{gathered}

Therefore the range is 251.23 meters
