\sf 6x-12=4x+2

Add 12 to both sides:-


\sf 6x-12+12=4x+2+12


\sf 6x=4x+14

Subtract 4x from both sides:-


\sf 6x-4x=4x+14-4x


\sf 2x=14

Divide both sides by 2:-


\sf \cfrac{2x}{2}=\cfrac{14}{2}


\sf x=7
