Average change in velocity without seatbelt, △v = 15.14 m/s

Average change in time without seatbelt, △t = 0.1034s

Average force of impact without seatbelt = 11549.78N

The average acceleration of the car without seatbelt = △v/△t

The average acceleration of the car without seatbelt = 15.14/0.1034

The average acceleration of the car without seatbelt = 146.42 m/s²

Average change in velocity with seatbelt, △v = 15.06 m/s

Average change in time with seatbelt, △t = 0.1184s

Average force of impact with seatbelt = 9961.54N

The average acceleration of the car with seatbelt = △v/△t

The average acceleration of the car with seatbelt = 15.06/0.1184

The average acceleration of the car without seatbelt = 126.2 m/s²

We would observe that:

• The acceleration of the vehicle after crash when seatbelt was not used is greater than the acceleration of the vehicle after crash when seatbelt was used

• The force of impact without seatbelt is greater than the force of impact with seatbelt

During a slow motion replay of each crash, we expect to see a more fatal crash when seatbelt was not used because of the high force of impact
