Answer : (a) g(x) = x^2 +6 was moved up by 6 units

(b) g(x)= x²-4 was moved down by 4 units

(c) g(x) = (x+3)^2 was shifted to the left by 3 units.

(d) g(x)= (x-4)² was shifted to the right by 4 units

Explanation :

Recall :

• ,In a function , ,to shift a function left,, add inside the function's argument(brackets)

,

• Similarly, to ,shift a function to the right, , subtract : f(x - b) shifts f(x) b units to the right.

,

• To move the ,function up and down,, you simply add or subtract numbers from the whole function

(a) Parent graph :g(x) = x ^2 ,

• Then g(x) = x^2 +6 ,was moved up by 6 units

(b) Parent graph : x^2

• Then , g(x)= x²-4 ,was moved down by 4 units

(c) Parent graph = x^2

• Then , g(x) = (x+3)^2 ,was shifted to the left by 3 unit,s.

(d) Parent graph g(x) = x^2

• Then , g(x)= (x-4)² ,was shifted to the right by, ,4 units
