The expression we have to solve is:

-(6)/(8)x=3

Step 1. Multiply both sides by -8/6 to eliminate the 6 and the 8 on the left side:

(-(8)/(6))(-(6)/(8))x=(-(8)/(6))(3)

Step 2. Simplify.

On the left side the 8s and the 6s cancell each other. Also since we have two negative numbers, the result will be possitive x.

x=(-(8)/(6))(3)

Step 3. Multiply the numbers on the right side

\begin{gathered} x=-(8*3)/(6) \\ x=-(24)/(6) \\ \end{gathered}

Step 4. Divide 24 by 6

x=-4
