At a certain high school, 50% of the students take Spanish as their foreign language. If 493 students take Spanish how many students attend high school?

Explanation:

(50/100)x = 493

0.5x = 493

x = 493/0.5

x = 986

You could have just multiplied by 2 because 50% of the school population is basically half of the school

Answer : 986
Reasoning : Half of the kids take Spanish so multiply the half by 2 and there’s the answer !
