a 2 kg rock is thrown at window with a force of 200 N for 5 seconds 1- what is the impulse on the rock? 1 2-solve for the initial and final momenta of the rock? 3- change in the rock's momentum? 4-what is the rock's final velocity? 5-what would happen to the rock if you applied the same force over 1 seconds?

from newton second law of motion

force is proportional to the rate of change of momentum

momentum = mv - mu

f = m(v - u) / t

cross multiplication

ft = m(v - u)

impulse is the product of force x time

ft = impulse

impulse = f x t

f = 200 N

t = 5s

impusle = 200 x 5

impulse = 1000Ns
