Given

2.3x=3.22

To determine the value of x, you have to cancel the multiplication on the x-term by applying the opposite operation, i.e. you have to divide 2.3x by 2.3. And, to keep the equality valid, you have it apply the division property of equality, which means that you have to divide both sides of the eqaution by 2.3

\begin{gathered} (2.3x)/(2.3)=(3.22)/(2.3) \\ x=1.4 \end{gathered}

The value of x is 1.4
