For this question,

Hypotenuse = 18 m

Opposite = ?

Adjacent = x = ?

Angle = 12°

So, using trignometric relations, we know that CAH means that

Cos 12° = (Adj/Hyp)

Cos 12° = (x/18)

Cos 12° = 0.9781

Cos 12° = (x/18)

0.9781 = (x/18)

Cross multiply

x = 18 (0.9781)

x = 17.6 m
