x^2\text{ - 2x + 1 = 0}

The quadratic formula is given by:

\frac{-b\text{ + }\pm\text{ }\sqrt[]{b^2-4ac\text{ }}}{2a}

Step 1: name the coefficients

a = 1, b = -2, c = 1

Step 2: substitute the vales of the coefficient into the equation

\frac{-2\text{ }\pm\sqrt[]{(-2)^2\text{ - 4 x 1 x 1}}}{2\text{ x 1}}

\begin{gathered} \frac{-2\text{ }\pm\sqrt[]{4\text{ - 4 }}}{2\text{ x 1}} \\ \\ \frac{-2\text{ }\pm\text{ 0}}{2} \end{gathered}

The solution

\begin{gathered} \frac{-\text{ 2 + 0}}{2}\text{ or }\frac{-2\text{ - 0}}{2} \\ \\ (-2)/(2)\text{ or }(-2)/(2) \\ \\ -\text{ 1 or -1} \\ \end{gathered}

Hence, the solution of the quadratic formula is - 1 (twice)
