How the oxidation of propan-1-ol can result in the formation of two different products.

(1) With an addition of oxygen , propan--ol can be oxidised to form propanoic acid.

\text{Two products that forms are : Propanol and propanoic acid}

1). by adding alkaline KMnO4 to oxidise propan-1-ol solution.

see equation below:

\begin{gathered} CH_3CH_2CH_2OH\rightarrow\vec{}\frac{KmnO4}{OH^-(\text{oxidation)}}CH_3CH_2CHO\text{ }\rightarrow\vec{}\frac{KmnO4}{OH^-(\text{oxidation)}}\rightarrow CH_3CH_2COOH \\ (Propan-1-ol)\rightarrow\text{ (Propanol ) }\rightarrow\text{ (Propanoic acid)} \end{gathered}
