2x – 4y = 8

This is the equation of a line

To graph a line, we need at least two points

so

Find out the intercepts

Find out the y-intercept (value of y when the value of x=0)

For x=0

2(0)-4y=8

4y=-8

y=-2

The y-intercept is the point (0,-2)

Find out the x-intercept (value of x when the value of y=0)

For y=0

2x-4(0)=8

2x=8

x=4

The x-intercept is the point (4,0)

To graph the line, plot the intercepts and join them to graph the line
