\begin{gathered} √(90)-√(40)=√(9*10)-√(4*10) \\ \text{ =}√(9)*√(10)-√(4)*√(10) \\ \text{ =3}√(10)-2√(10) \end{gathered}

taking √10 common,


√(10)(3-2)=√(10)
