The rule of the volume of the rectangular prism is

V=L* W* H

L is the length

W is the width

H is the height

Since the swimming pool is shaped like a rectangular prism with

A length of 16 feet, a width of 36 feet, and a depth of 5 feet, then

L = 16

W = 36

H = 5

The volume of the water in the pool with full capacity is equal to the volume of the pool.

Substitute the values of L, W, and H in the rule to find the volume of the pool

\begin{gathered} V=16*36*5 \\ V=2880\text{ ft}^3 \end{gathered}

(a) The pool can hold 2880 cubic feet

Since they will fill the pool to hold 90% of its capacity, then

We will find 90% of 2880 cubic feet

\begin{gathered} V=(90)/(100)*2880 \\ V=2592\text{ ft}^3 \end{gathered}

(b) It is 2592 cubic feet of water
