The radius of the cone is,


r=(D)/(2)=(3)/(2)=1.5\text{ in}

The volume of the cone can be calculated as,


\begin{gathered} V=(1)/(3)\pi r^2h \\ =(1)/(3)*3*1.5^2*8 \\ =18in^3 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the volume of the cone is 18 in^3.
