Directions: Write a system of equations for each scenario. Define the two variables. Write the system of equations that could be used to solve this problem. You do NOT need to solve the system. 1) A rectangle has a perimeter of 62 cm. Its width is 5 cm less than its length.

The formula for finding the perimeter of a rectangle is

P=2(\text{l+w})

Here l is the length and w is the w.

In this case it is given,

\begin{gathered} P=62 \\ w=l-5 \end{gathered}

So, the equation becomes,

62=2(l+l-5)

The variables are l and w.
