x=13 and y = -2

Step - by - Step Explanation

What to find? Value of x and y.

Given:

x + 6y = 1 -----------------------------------(1)

2x - 3y = 32 --------------------------------(2)

Using substitution method,

From equation(1)

x = 1- 6y ----------------------------------(3)

Substitute equation (3) into equation (2).

2(1-6y) - 3y = 32

2 - 12y - 3y = 32

2 - 15y = 32

Subtract 2 from both-side of the equation.

-15y = 32 - 2

-15y = 30

Divide both-side of the equation by -15.

y = -2.

Subtsitute y=-2 into equation (3)

x = 1 - 6(-2)

x = 1 + 12

x = 13

Therefore, x=13 and y= -2
