Answer

L. y = √x

Explanation

Substituting x = 4 into the first formula, we get:

\begin{gathered} y=x^2 \\ y=4^2 \\ y=16 \end{gathered}

But, in the graph, when x = 4, then y = 2. In consequence, this is not the correct equation.

Substituting x = 4 into the second formula, we get:

\begin{gathered} y=2x \\ y=2\cdot4 \\ y=8 \end{gathered}

For the same reason as before, this is not the correct equation.

Substituting x = 4 into the third formula, we get:

\begin{gathered} y=√(x) \\ y=√(4) \\ y=2 \end{gathered}

This result coincides with the graph. Substituting now with x = 9 and x = 16, we get:

\begin{gathered} y=√(9) \\ y=3 \\ \text{ And} \\ y=√(16) \\ y=4 \end{gathered}

These results also coincide with the graph, then y = √x represents the curve of best fit for the points labeled on the graph.
