A local theme park found that if the price of admission was $11, the attendance was about 1200 customers per week. When the price of admission was dropped to $8, attendance increased to about 1850 per week. Write a linear equation for the attendance in terms of the price, p. (A= mp+b

We aretold to write the linear equation in the form of A = Mp +b ,

1 . So , when attendance (A) was 1200, Price (p) was 11,

Therefore the equation will be:

• 1200 =11 m + b ... (equation 1 )

2. When (A ) was 1850, (p) was 8

Therefore the equation will be:

• 1850 = 8m+ ,b.....(equation 2 )

3. 1200 = 11m+b

- 1850 = 8m +b

→ -650 = 3m +0

3m = -650

m = -650/3 = -216.67

• Now that we have the value of a slope (m) = -216.67 , substituting this value in equation 1 :

1200 = 11(-216.67) + b

1200 +2383.33 = b

b =10750/3 =3583.33

This means that our linear equation will be :

A = -650/3 p + 10750/3 Yo
