Then each movie $1.75 and each video game $5.5 for rental

1) Gathering the data from the question:

1 month = 6 movies and 5 video games for $38

2nd month = 2 movies and 3 video games for $ 20

Each cost of movies and games?

2) Let's call movies by (x) and games (y). Then we can set a system of Linear equations:

6x +5y =38

2x+3y=20

3) Using the addition method:

6x +5y =38

2x+3y=20 Multiplying by (-3)

6x +5y =38

-6x-9y=-60

-----------------

-4y = -22 Multiplying by (-1)

4y = 22 Dividing by 4 on both sides

y = 5.5

4) Let's plug y=5.5 in any equation, let's pick the original one 2x +3y=20

2x +3(5.5) =20

2x +16.5=20 subtract 16.5 on both sides

2x +16.5 -16.5= 20 -16.5

2x =3.5 Dividing both sides by 2

x= 1.75

Then each movie $1.75 and each video game $5.5 for rental
