To rent a certain meeting room, a college charges a reservation fee of $44 and an additional fee of $6.40 per hour. The math club wants to spend less thanS95.20 on renting the meeting room.What are the possible amounts of time for which they could rent the meeting room?Use 1 for the number of hours the meeting room is rented, and solve your inequality for t.

cost of renting a meeting room = reservation fee + additional fee per hour,

Therefore,

C=44+6.40*t

where,

C is the total cost and,

t is time in hours

Since, the math club wants to spend less than $95.20, then C < $95.20

Therefore,

44+6.40t<95.20

Now, let's solve the inequality above for t,

1. substract 44 from both sides

\begin{gathered} 44+6.40t-44<95.20-44 \\ 6.40t<51.20 \end{gathered}

2. divide both sides by 6.40

\begin{gathered} (6.40t)/(6.40)<(51.20)/(6.40) \\ t<8 \end{gathered}

Thus, they can only rent the meeting room for up to 8 hours
