Start ( 10, -9)

Bakery ( 11, -8)

End (12 , -7)

Distance = [(x2 - x1)^2 + (y2 - y1)^2] ^1/2

Distance from S to B

[(11-10)^2 + (-8- (-9))^2]^1/2

[ 1 + 1 ] ^ 1/2

2 ^ 1/2

Distance from B to E

[(12-11)^2 + (-7-(-8))^2]^1/2

[ 1 + 1] ^1/2

2^1/2

Distance from S to E

[(12-10)^2 + (-7 - (-9))^2]^1/2

[4 + 4]^1/2

8^1/2

ratio

2^1/2 / 8^1/2

= 1/2

the ratio could also be the reverse

8 ^1/2 / 2^ 1/2

= 2

Answer:

1/2 and 2
