We have to express the given problem as an equation. Notice that "is" means equality and less than means a subtraction. Having said that, we can express the following.

12x+8=6-7

Then, we solve for x. First, we subtract 8 on each side.

\begin{gathered} 12x+8-8=6-7-8 \\ 12x=-9 \\ \end{gathered}

Then, we divide the equation by 12.

\begin{gathered} (12x)/(12)=-(9)/(12) \\ x=-(3)/(4) \end{gathered}

At last, we multiply each side by 8 to find the value for 8x.

\begin{gathered} 8x=-(3)/(4)\cdot8 \\ 8x=-(24)/(4) \\ 8x=-6 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the value of 8x is -6.
