the given equation is

y=3x^2-3x-2

now we re-arrange the above equation,

\begin{gathered} y=3x^2-3x-2 \\ (y)/(3)=x^2-x-(2)/(3) \end{gathered}

add 1/4 both side.

(y)/(3)+(1)/(4)=x^2-x+(1)/(4)-(2)/(3)
\begin{gathered} (y)/(3)+(1)/(4)=(x-(1)/(2))^2-(2)/(3) \\ (y)/(3)+(11)/(12)=(x-(1)/(2))^2 \end{gathered}
