Ellie baked the tallest wedding cake ever! There were 8 tiers. Each tier had 9 frosting flowers on it. There were 16 pink flowers and the rest were white. How many flowers were white?

We know that the total flowers are 9 times 8 which is equal to 72.

If there are 16 pink flowers, then the number of white flowers are

Hence, there are 56 white flowers.
