We are given right angled triangles and right angled triangles have certain peculiarities.

A special relationship exists between the sides and the angles.

There are 3 legs, two legs and the hypothenuse (longest side) related by the relationship below:

h^2=a^2+o^2

Where:

h = hypothenuse

a = adjacent

o = opposite

1. We are given the 2 legs and are required to find the hypothenuse

\begin{gathered} h=\sqrt[]{a^2+o^2} \\ h=\sqrt[]{14^2+10^2} \\ h=x=\sqrt[]{296}=2\sqrt[]{74} \end{gathered}
