x^(10)y^(70)

1) We were told to simplify this expression. So, we'll do it using the properties from the exponents.

2) Let's write it down:

(xy^7)^(10)

Note that in this case, we've got to distribute the exponents over each variable, so that will lead to this:

(xy^7)^(10)=x^(1\cdot10)y^(7\cdot10)=x^(10)y^(70)

Note that we did this by multiplying each exponent by the outside exponent.
