A photograph measures 4 inches by 6 inches. Haley enlarges the photograph to be 32 inches by 48 inches. What is the scale of the enlarged photograph to the original photograph?

We can calculate the scale of the enlarged photograph to the original dividing one side of the enlarged photgraph to the equivalent side of the original.

We pick the large side (48 in), that is equivalent to the 6 in side of the original and calculate:


k=(48)/(6)=8

The scale factor is 8.
