Ok, so

We know that Jorge uses 1-centimeter cubes to make a rectangular prism. If we graph:

Each layer of his prism is 5 cubes long and 2 cubes wide.

This is the rectangular prism that Jorge built. Now, if we notice, the measure of the width of this prism is 2 centimeters and its lenght is 5 centimeters.

A way to find the volume could be:

- Use the formula of the volume of a prism, which is:


V=W\cdot L\cdot H

Where W is the width, L is the lenght and H is the height.

If we replace, we got that:


\begin{gathered} V=5\operatorname{cm}\cdot2\operatorname{cm}\cdot1cm \\ V=10\operatorname{cm}3 \end{gathered}

The other way which we could find the volume of the prism is to sum the volume of each cube.

The volume of each cube is 1 cm3. If we count, there are 10 cubes needed to build the prism. So, if we multiply:

Which is actually the volume of the prism given.
