Given:

Base =3.5 cm

Perpendicular = 6.4 cm

Find: Hypotenuse

Sol:

Use Pythagoras theorem.

\text{ Hypotenuse}^2=Base^2+perpendicular^2
\begin{gathered} \text{ Hypotenuse}^2=3.5^2+6.4^2 \\ \text{ Hypotenuse}^2=12.25+40.96 \\ \text{ Hypotenuse}^2=53.21 \\ \text{ Hypotenuse=}\sqrt[]{53.21} \\ \text{ Hypotenuse=7.2945} \end{gathered}

So the hypotenuse is 7.3
