What are the values for which the expression x + 2 = 0?

The answer is the zeros of the polynomial.

Let us check if -2 and 2 are zeros of x + 2 = 0

Substitute the value of -2 in the polynomial x + 2:

-2 + 2 = 0

So x = -2 is a zero of the polynomial x + 2

What about 2?

2 + 2 = 4. Therefore, x = 2 is not a zero of the polynomial x + 2.
