the equation is:

-2(8x+6)=44

the we can divede for minus 2 in each side of the equation so:

\begin{gathered} (-2(8x+6))/(-2)=(44)/(-2) \\ 8x+6=-22 \end{gathered}

now we substract 6 units so:

\begin{gathered} 8x+6-6=-22-6 \\ 8x=-28 \end{gathered}

finally we divide for 8:

\begin{gathered} (8x)/(8)=-(28)/(8) \\ x=3.5 \end{gathered}
