To solve the equation we need to isolate the variable "x" on the left side. We do that by switching terms from one side of the other on the expression.

4x+2x-8=3x+9-5

The first step is to change the "3x" from the right to the left. For that we need to subtract "3x" on both sides of the equation.

\begin{gathered} 4x+2x-8-3x=3x+9-5-3x \\ 3x-8=9-5 \end{gathered}

The next step is to change the "-8" from the left to right. We do that by adding "8" on both sides.

\begin{gathered} 3x-8+8=9-5+8 \\ 3x=12 \end{gathered}

The last step is to divide both sides by 3.

\begin{gathered} (3x)/(3)=(12)/(3) \\ x=4 \end{gathered}

The value of x for this equation is 4.
