radius = 8

diameter = 16

Step-by-step explanation:

The line AB is tanget to the circle. This means angle P is a right angle.

The triangle OPQ is a right angle.

Hence, we would apply pythagorass theorem to the length OP which is the radius of the circle.

Using pythagoras' theorem:

Hypotenuse² = opposite² + adjacent²

hypotenuse = OQ = 17

adjacent = PQ = 15

opposite = OP

17² = 15² + OP²

289 = 225 + OP²

289 - 225 = OP²

64 = OP²

square root both sides:

OP = √64

OP = 8

The radius = OP = 8

diamter = 2(radius) = 2(8)

diameter = 16

The radius have a length of 8 so that means the diameter will have a length of 16
