A furniture store offers free setup and delivery services to all points within a 25-mile radius of its warehouse distribution center. If you live 20 miles east and 14 miles south of the warehouse, will you incur a delivery charge?

no, delivery charges will not be incurred

Here, we want to know if a delivery charge will be incurred

From the question, we have the distance from the warehouse given

We can form a right angled triangle with these coordinates so as to get the actual distance from the warehouse by the use of Pythagoras' theorem

We have the distance to be calculated as the hypotenuse which its square is equal to the sum of the squares of the two other sides

We have this as;

\begin{gathered} D^2=20^2+14^2 \\ D^2\text{ = 400 + 196} \\ D^2\text{ = 596} \\ D\text{ = }\sqrt[]{596} \\ D\text{ = 24.4 MILES} \end{gathered}

The calculated distance is less than the distance that does not qualify. Hence, no delivery charges will be incurred
