3(x-5)-(2x+4)=

Applying the PEMDAS rule, first, we need to distribute the multiplication over the subtraction in the first term, as follows:


\begin{gathered} =3x-3\cdot5-(2x+4)= \\ =3x-15-(2x+4)= \end{gathered}

Next, we need to eliminate the parentheses:


=3x-15-2x-4=

Notice that the terms inside the parentheses were positive, but the minus sign change them to negative.

Finally, we have to combine the similar terms:


\begin{gathered} =(3x-2x)+(-15-4)= \\ =x-19 \end{gathered}
