Marcus planted two trees in his backyard, and oak tree and a pecan tree. the height, in feet, of the oak tree after X years can be modeled by the expression 4x + 4. the height, and feet, of the pecan tree after X years can be modeled by the expression 2x + 8.which number line represents the time when the height of the oak tree is greater than or equal to the height of the pecan tree?

To solve this question we have to state an inequality in which the expression for the height of the oak tree is greater than or equal to the expression for the height of the pecan tree, this way:

4x+4\ge2x+8

Now, solve this equation for x:

\begin{gathered} 4x-2x\ge8-4 \\ 2x\ge4 \\ x\ge(4)/(2) \\ x\ge2 \end{gathered}

The number line that represents the time when the height of the oak tree is greater than or equal to the height of the pecan tree is D, which is the one that represents the inequality x≥2
