Given : two similar figures

So, the corresponding sides will be in proportion

As shown in the figure :

DE = x , TU = 6

EF = 4 , UV = 12

So,

\begin{gathered} (DE)/(TU)=(EF)/(UV) \\ \\ (x)/(6)=(4)/(12) \\ \\ (x)/(6)=(1)/(3) \end{gathered}

So, the similarity ratio as a fraction will be :

(x)/(6)=(1)/(3)

Solve to find x :

\begin{gathered} x=6\cdot(1)/(3) \\ \\ x=2 \end{gathered}

So, the value of x = 2
