We are given a line equation and asked to transform it into the slope-intercept form, that is:

y=mx+b

To do that, we solve for "y" in the given equation

3x+17y=5

Subtracting 3x on both sides

17y=5-3x

Dividing by 17 on both sides

y=(5-3x)/(17)

separating the denominator

y=(5)/(17)-(3x)/(17)

And thus we get the desired equation.
