The slope of a increasing function is positive.

The slope of a decreasing function is negative

In a equation of the line in the form:

y=mx+b

The slope is m (the value that is next to the variable x)

For the given functions the next have positive slope (increasing functions):

\begin{gathered} f(x)=4x+3\text{ (Slope 4)} \\ j(x)=(1)/(2)x-3\text{ (Slope 1/2)} \end{gathered}

For the given functions the next have negative slope (decreasing functions):

\begin{gathered} a(x)=5-2x\text{ (Slope -2)} \\ h(x)=-x+4\text{ (Slope -1)} \\ n(x)=-(1)/(3)x+2\text{ (Slope -1/3)} \end{gathered}
