Explanation:

32 = 2⁵

so, the basic term (1/2) on the left side of the original equation must be turned into a 1/ 1/2 term (= 2).

so, the exponent must be negative.

therefore, the first 2 answer options are out.

and so

(1/2)^(2x) = 2^(-2x) = 2^5

and therefore

-2x = 5

is the correct answer.
