What is the energy stored in the chemical bonds of a proteins?

Potential energy is stored in the covalent bonds that a protein have.

Covalent bonds that hold the atoms together in a molecule have potential energy stored in them.

Then, all molecules move, and that movement is a type of kinetic energy. Molecules in solids don't move too much, they just vibrate. Molecules in gases move a lot. Molecules in gases have much more kinetic energy.
