Given:

x=1 y=-3 m=1/2

We need to find the intercept by substituting the above values into y=mx + b and then solve for intercept(b).

That is

-3 = (1/2)(1) + b

-3 = 1/2 + b

subtract 1/2 from both-side of the equation.

-3 - 1/2 = b


\begin{gathered} (-6-1)/(2)=b \\ \\ =-(7)/(2)=-3.5 \end{gathered}

The y-intercept is (0, -7/2)

The equation of the line can be formed by substituting the value of m and b.

That is;


y=(1)/(2)x-(7)/(2)

For the graph, we can just plot this two points;

(1, -3) and (0, -3.5)
