6. A rectangle's width is one-third its length. If the width is 8 inches, what is the length of therectangle?

Given:

Width is one third of length

Let length is "l"

Then width is:


w=(l)/(3)

If the width is 8 then length is:


\begin{gathered} w=8 \\ w=(l)/(3) \\ 8=(l)/(3) \\ l=8*3 \\ l=24\text{ inches} \end{gathered}

length of rectangle is 24 inches.
