I think the first quote means that the person likes negative because they can turn it into positive.

The second quote probably means that the person hates that boy, so she really hates it when the boy she hates loves you.

My interpretation if these quotes:

1. At different times, words affect you in different ways, you love them when you are having fun, being loved, or in a desirable position, you hate them when you are in a rough spot, being hated, or in an undesirable position.

2. Boys have many different feelings about girls, from my past experience(s) boys love you sometimes when you dont want to be loved, most of the time when they love you, you dont feel the same way and dont know how to tell them that you dont see them in the same way, but want to keep at least your friendship between the 2 of you. Boys that hate you are easier to move on from (depending upon the situation), but for the most part you can eventually find other people to surround yourself with.
