In order to aerate and laser-grade a baseball field, a contractor charges $350, plus $25 per hour for a job. The equation c=25h+350 describes the cost, c for a job that takes h hours.

a. Rewrite the equation to isolate h.

b. If a job costs $950, how many hours did it take?

we have the equation

c=25h+350

Solve for h------> that means, isolate the variable h

subtract 350 both sides

c-350=25h+350-350

(c-350)=25h

Divide by 25 both sides

(c-350)/25=h

h=(c-350)/25

Part 2

h=(c-350)/25

For c=$950

substitute

h=(850-350)/25

h=500/25

h=20 hours
