There were 50 people in the room, but only 16 of them wore hats. What percent of the people were wearing hats?

To find the percent 16 represents we use a rule of three:


\begin{gathered} 50\rightarrow100 \\ 16\rightarrow x \end{gathered}

Then:


x=(16\cdot100)/(50)=32

Therefore 32% of the people wore hats.
