-(1)/(2)(12p-42)=-33

Multiplying by (-2) at both sides of the equation:

\begin{gathered} (-2)\cdot(-(1)/(2))(12p-42)=(-2)\cdot(-33) \\ 12p-42=66 \end{gathered}

Adding 42 at both sides of the equation:

\begin{gathered} 12p-42+42=66+42 \\ 12p=108 \end{gathered}

Dividing by 12 at both sides of the equation:

\begin{gathered} (12p)/(12)=(108)/(12) \\ p=9 \end{gathered}
