What set of reflections and rotations would carry rectangle ABCD onto itself?
(4 points)
1) Rotate 180°, reflect over the x-axis, reflect over the line yox
2) Reflect over the x-axis, rotate 180°, reflect over the x-axis
3) Rotate 180°, reflect over the y-axis, reflect over the line y=x
4) Reflect over the y-axis, reflect over the x-axis, rotate 180°

Answer:

Reflect over the y -- axis, reflect over the x -- axis, rotate 180 degrees

Explanation:

Point A = (-4, 1)

Reflect over the x -axis means, the the value if the x- axis remain the same while the value ofy - axis will be negated

Reflection over x - axis is (x, y)---------------------------- (x, -y)

(-4, 1) ------------------ (-4, -1)

Reflectiion over y - axis means, the value of y - axis remain the same and the value of x - axis would be negated

(-4, -1) --------------- (4,-1)

Rotate 180 degrees

The rule for rotating 180 degrees s given as

(x, y)----------------- (-x, -y)

(4, - 1) --------------- (-4, 1)

Therefore, point A will remain the same if reflected over x - axis, y- axis and rotate 180 degrees. This is applied to the other coordinate points on the graph.
